2 National Tours held on the same weekend, and two overall victories
Savings & Loans News:
The Team's youngest rider, Tim Roe, rode the ride of his life to win Round 2 of the National Road Series, the Mersey Valley Tour in Tasmania.
After winning stage 2 through a solo breakaway effort in wet and windy conditions, Tim went into the final stage with a 1 minute.and 34 sec buffa over Queenslands David Kemp
The final day, 120km race with 3 category climbs, saw all teams throw everything at Savings & Loans. Lead by Russell Van Hout, the team held strong and was able to contain the gap between the main contenders and Roe at 20 seconds leading onto the final climb of the day.
Roe then held strong over the remaining 15k to maintain enough margin to win the Tour overall. A really gutsy effort from everyone in the team.
The team finished the Tour with 2 stage wins and Overall.
Then David Pell made it 2 from 2 with a strong performance at the Tour of Coleraine, a 4 stage tour in the Southern Grampians.
After placing 2nd in the Time Trial behind Drapac Porsche rider, Baunsteins, Pell attacked the field in stage two and had time to also lead out the team sprinter, Russell Gill for the stage win.
On day two, Pell and Gill worked together in the criterium to collect enough time bonuses to take the overall win.
This was shortly after Tim Roe took the overall victory at the Tour of Mersey Valley in Tasmania, winning over all other Australian UCI Continental Teams.
